Parents Urged to Save Money With Real Nappies
We'll be supporting the 13th annual Real Nappy Week from April 27th – 3rd May.
The promotional week co-ordinated by Go Real, formerly know as the Real Nappy Campaign will this year be concentrating on how parents can save money by using Real Nappies.
With the country officially in the first recession since 1991 and with 600,000 job losses predicted for 2009, parents from all walks of life are looking for easy ways to save money.
Bec Thomas from Go Real commented:
“Parents could save £1000 by choosing real nappies over leading disposable brands and there are further savings to be made when nappies are passed down and used again.”
As well as the obvious financial gains of using real nappies, parents are increasingly attracted by the environmental benefits. A recent government study that compared real nappies with disposables, found that if used correctly real nappies can be up to 40% better for the environment.
Jen Wilkes, mum of three said:
“Most families feel the financial strain when having a family but using washable nappies can really ease that. They are really easy to use and long lasting. I have been able to use mine with all three of my children and I could still pass them on to friends or family to use again.”
Organisations across the country will be joining together to celebrate the week with unique events such as nappy fashion shows, “spot the bot” competitions and teddy toddles.
Radio Two’s Janey Lee Grace, patron of Go Real, commented:
“Real Nappy Week provides parents with the ideal opportunity to find out about washable nappies and their many benefits. The week plays host to so many fun and informative events all around the country, designed to give parents all the information they need to make an independent nappy choice. If babies had a voice, they would choose cloth!”

Both fairs, organised by the Leicestershire Real nappy network will be offering vouchers of £15 to spend on cloth nappies from any of the retailers. I'll be putting a starter kit together for £45, so that if you spend the £15 voucher and use your £30 cashback, (Leicestershire residents only) it will be completly free!
